Fractions click when they stay visual for as long as possible. The identifying sheets keep every question tied to a picture, and the number line page moves that picture onto the ruler kids already know. Equivalent fractions are really our times tables in disguise, and checking an answer by simplifying leans on the same facts as our division worksheets, so the three sets reinforce each other.
Like denominators first, on purpose
The first addition sheets stick to like denominators: adding the tops while the bottom stays put is the one rule at this stage, and mixing in unlike denominators too early is where fraction fear starts. When the unlike-denominator pages do arrive, one denominator is always a multiple of the other, so a single rewrite is enough and the page stays about the idea rather than about big numbers.
Beyond the shape
A fraction of a group of counters is a different exercise from a fraction of one circle, and plenty of children can do the second without ever managing the first.
