12 Times Table Worksheets

The 12 times table is ten groups plus two groups: 12 x 7 is 70 plus 14, so 84. It is also the 6 times table doubled, which gives two reliable routes back whenever a fact is forgotten. Start with the wall chart, the desk strips, the cut-out cards and the ladders. Read each line as ten groups plus two groups: 12 x 7 is 70 plus 14, so 84. Out of order, where 70 plus 14 must become 84

A neat run can be rebuilt by adding twelve without any fact being recalled on its own. These sheets remove that ladder: shuffled equations, vertical multiplication, true or false, matching pairs and a forty-eight-number grid. The products beyond 100 are deliberately scattered through the set, because 108, 120, 132 and 144 are the part most likely to disappear under pressure.

Backwards: 12 x ? = 108 and dividing by 12

The same facts now begin with the product. A valid multiple of 12 must divide by both three and four, which is a useful rejection test even though it does not reveal the missing factor. The sheets ask for that factor, exact divisions by 12, four-number fact families and two machines, one multiplying and one undoing the operation.
