The core practice pages carry twelve problems each, in big clear print with no clutter and no cartoon distractions, and every page has a name and date line at the top so it can go straight into a folder or a homework pile. The problems are set vertically, in a column, which is how addition is taught and how it will later be written out for two and three digit sums.
Work through them in order
Take the number ranges in sequence: sums to 5, then to 10, then to 20, then the two-digit and three-digit pages. Because the answer boxes are large and the layout never changes, a child who has done the first sheet already knows how to do the last one, and the only new thing on the page is the arithmetic. That is the point of a worksheet series.
More than one way to practise
Beyond the vertical grids there are horizontal rows, missing-addend pages, number lines to jump along, number bonds, add-across-and-down puzzles, balancing equations, true or false checking pages, timed fact drills and word problems. If the plain grids have stopped teaching anything, change the format rather than the topic. Frequently asked questions
What grade level are these addition worksheets?
Ages 5-8, so kindergarten through second grade depending on your curriculum. Sums to 10 are typical kindergarten and first-grade work, sums to 20 land in first and second grade, and column addition with carrying is second grade and beyond. Only the drill sheets are meant to be timed, and they say so on the page.
Do the worksheets come with an answer key?
No, there is no separate answer sheet. Each page is a single printable worksheet, and with twelve single-digit sums the answers can be checked at a glance or, better, checked by the child with counters or a number line.
Is this free for classroom and homeschool use?
Yes, and you can print unlimited copies for a class, a homeschool, a library or a tutoring session at no cost and with no sign-up. Selling the sheets or re-uploading them to another site is the only thing that is off limits.
