Twenty-two is two full tens and a pair left over, the first number of the new decade to end in two.
Download PDFNumber 23
Twenty-three is two tens and three more, written with a 2 first and a 3 after it.
Download PDFNumber 27
Twenty-seven is two full tens and seven, close enough to thirty to feel it coming.
Download PDFNumber 29
Twenty-nine is one counter short of three full tens, the last number before the decade turns.
Download PDFNumber word: one
The word one hides its o sound: it is spelled with an o and said like a w.
Download PDFNumber word: three
Three starts with the th pair that has to be written as two letters.
Download PDFNumber word: eleven
Eleven breaks the pattern: it is not one plus ten in the way it sounds.
Download PDFNumber word: fourteen
Fourteen keeps the whole word four inside it, which forty does not.
Download PDFNumber word: fifteen
Fifteen turns five into fif, so it is not spelled the way it sounds.
Download PDFCounting by 2s to 20
The even numbers to twenty, traced six times over so the two, four, six rhythm is in the hand as well as the mouth.
Download PDFCounting by 5s to 50
Fives to fifty: every number ends in a five or a zero, and tracing the row makes that pattern impossible to miss.
Download PDFCounting by 10s to 100
Tens to a hundred, the first sequence most children can say before they can write it.
Download PDFNumbers 1 to 5
One page for the first five digits, a full guide row each, for a child who no longer needs a whole sheet per number.
Download PDFNumbers 6 to 10
Six through ten on a single page, the half of the first decade with the trickiest curves in it.
Download PDFNumbers 11 to 15
Eleven to fifteen, the first review page where every number needs two digits written side by side.
Download PDFNumbers 16 to 20
Sixteen to twenty on one page, finishing the teens and landing on the first round number after ten.
Download PDFHow these number tracing worksheets work
Number formation is easiest when it comes with meaning, so every sheet pairs the digit with a group of countable dots. The child traces the number on three-line handwriting guides, then counts the dots to see what the number actually stands for. That is the difference between drawing a shape and writing a quantity, and it is why kids who only recite "one, two, three" often stall at 13.
Print 0-9 first, then 10-20
The set runs 0 to 20, one number per page. Start with 0-9 until each digit is written without a model, then move to 10-20, where children see for the first time how two digits work together to make one number. Watch for the classic reversals: 3, 5, 7 and 9 are the usual suspects, and the arrow-free guides here let you correct the starting point rather than the shape.
Frequently asked questions
What age or grade are number tracing worksheets for?
Ages 3-6, which is preschool through kindergarten. Three- and four-year-olds do well with 0-10; most five-year-olds can handle the teen numbers. There is no reading required on any page, so a child who does not yet know letters can still complete every sheet. Once the digits come easily, our kindergarten math worksheets put them to work counting, comparing and adding.
What paper size do the PDFs print on?
Every sheet is a one-page PDF built at US Letter size (8.5 by 11 inches). It also prints correctly on A4: choose "actual size" or 100% scale, or "fit to page" if your printer margins are tight. Nothing important sits near the edge, so nothing gets cut off.
Do I need to sign up to download?
No. There is no sign-up, no email, no account and no download limit. Click the button under any number and the PDF saves straight to your device.
